The two year old update

In what seemed like a blink of an eye, Addysen turned 2! I'll admit the first year went by at a relatively normal pace, but this last year, from 1 to 2, just went so quickly. And its just amazing how much Addy has learned in this last year (let alone all she's picked up in two years).

--First, her growth chart: At her recent well-baby check up, they said Addy weighed 43 pounds, BUT she had her shoes on. I've weighed her recently and its only 40lbs. The doctor wants her at 37 lbs, and we've changed her milk from whole to reduced fat 2% so hopefully that will help. She is also 38 1/4 inches tall. Still off the charts! Addysen is also quickly growing out of her size 8 1/2 shoes, and will soon be wearing size 9.
--It took what seemed to be a loooong time, but Addysen finally talks all the time. In fact, she'll repeat anything you say. She practices complicated words like broccoli and cauliflower. She can also form mini-sentences, putting two or three words together at one time. Her favorite current words are purple and happy.
--Addy still loves to sing and dance. If she's ever moody or needs her attention redirected, sing her a song and start dancing! She'll start to dance with me, and will begin a song by using one of the words in the song..."Round" for ring around the rosies, "Sun" for the Mr. Sun song, "Boom" for "the ants go marching" song. And if you start one song, and that isn't the song she wants to sing to, she'll tell you NO so that you have to guess again. She also picks up on words sung in her movies!
--Recently, Addysen learned to say A, B & C and can identify letters. She also knows that her name begins with the letter A. She can count to 5. It's amazing what a little repetition can do for a child her age.
--You all know that her favorite color is purple, but Addysen knows many more colors that just purple. She can identify and say red, orange, yellow, purple, pink, blue, green and brown.
--She loves animals! Dogs, cats, horses, elephants, monkeys....to name just a few of her favorites. She got 3 purple horses for her birthday and I'm sure she'd take a dozen more if they were given to her.
--Addy enjoys coloring, reading, playing with other kids, swimming (she does a good job at kicking and floating)....mostly anything that will keep her active from the time she wakes up til the time she goes to sleep. This kid doesn't stop.
--Addysen is starting to branch out in her menu selections. It seems like she eats the same thing every day, so we are trying to give her part of our meals to see if she'll eat it. So far, she likes hamburgers (probably tired of chicken nuggets) and has also enjoyed roast beef and tri tip. She loves fruit. And one of her daily requests is icecream...."Cone", and who doesn't want a sweet treat! Moderation is the key!
--"Please", "thank you" and "you're welcome" are becoming part of her vocabulary. We kindly remind her to use these forms of courtesy because we'd like to have a polite child.
--And even though I can go on forever about this little girl because her characteristics are endless, I will close with potty training. Uhhh....she's not potty trained. :( She know how to use the potty, but she goes when Addy want to go potty. We're trying not to force it as to totally make her anti-big girl potty, but we're really going to start getting stricter on the issue. And we're switching to the pull up type pants (found some really cute ones) so maybe that will transition her a little faster.
--OOHHH, I almost forgot, have I mentioned that we are done teething? I think Addysen got the last of her two year molars in just at 23 months. Such a relief, now to reinforce how important it is to take care of those teeth!

Hopefully you've gained some insight into Addy's little life right now.

What a fun little update! Thanks for sharing all the little details of Addy's development. I see her so infrequently, and even then for such short durations of time, that I am not able to pick up on all that she is able to do. It's fun to read your notes, and down the line you'll be so happy you wrote it all down.

That blog is too cute! Being done with teething is an amzing feeling, and the potty training takes time, and will happen when she is ready!
